Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 February 2008

Plane case of pollution

• I am pleased to see that MPs Emily Thornberry and Jeremy Corbyn have shown their concern about climate change by signing a parliamentary petition to strengthen the Climate Change Bill.
The petition asks for emissions from international aviation to be included in the Bill, which is vital, otherwise it’s like having a drink-driving law but excluding the effects of whisky.
It also asks for the target for emissions reduction to be raised to 80 per cent by 2050, without which we will be unable to stop dangerous climate change. I hope both these MPs will continue to support these important measures as the Bill progresses through Parliament.
