Gambling licence bid sparks opposition

TOWN Hall decision-makers are being urged to stamp on plans for a gambling parlour in Archway.
Agora Gaming Centre is applying for a gambling licence for 31-33 Junction Road, despite planning permission being refused for a slot machine arcade there.
Labour councillor Janet Burgess said: “Residents have made it clear they don’t want a gambling hall in Archway and I am on their side.
“I will be objecting to this application and I expect tens, if not hundreds, of people from Archway to do the same.
“I also want to make sure the council doesn’t let them open anyway. I expect the council to make sure they stick to the law.”
The recent planning application is believed to have attracted a record number of objections.
