Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 15 February 2008

Plight of the lonely

• I HAVE been trying for 30 years to highlight the plight of people in places like Arlington House in Camden Town, but to no avail.
So many were Irish males and many of them were on building sites at the age of 14. How lonely it must have been to leave rural Ireland when aged 12-14 and come to England, where often you did not know anyone. I have written to British and Irish governments and church leaders, but so far all in vain.
If the public knew the real story they would be appalled and would do something, but the media and others fight shy of this subject. I am glad the Tribune covers such stories.
