Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 15 February 2008

Revealed: life in Gaza

• MP Jeremy Corbyn’s terminology is very apt (‘Life in Gaza prison’, February 8). The “prisoners” in the south of Gaza escaped for a while over the Egyptian border but are now back in “prison”, controlled from both ends of the strip.
The day after we heard the news of the breakout, Islington Friends of Yibna’s chairwoman, Yael Kahn, took a plane to Cairo and managed to get herself over the open border and into Gaza.
She was able to visit Yibna, a refugee camp close to the border, which suffers frequent attacks from the Israelis, a camp which normally the Israelis would not allow us to visit.
Islington Friends of Yibna are having a public meeting in Islington Town Hall, at 7pm on Wednesday, February 27, when (with other speakers) Yael will talk about the people she met and the shameful conditions they endure.
I hope your readers will come along.
