Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 8 February 2008

Counter attack

• IT'S good that Labour councillors are waking up to the threat to our police stations (Place for police shop, February 1).

Especially as those threats to close Highbury Vale and Holloway police stations and replace them with police counters come straight from the Labour-led Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA).
In fact, one of the MPA members is local Labour GLA member Jennette Arnold, who, apart from popping up in a photo opportunity in the local paper, has been strangely silent on the topic. I am happy to promise Councillor Catherine West and all Islington residents that I will never vote for any measure that would reduce police coverage in Islington. Can her Labour colleagues say the same?
Cllr MERAL ECE
Lib Dem, Mildmay ward
