Arcade plans spark protest

A CAMPAIGN is being launched against plans to turn a former hardware store in Archway into an amusement arcade.
The Better Archway Forum opposes proposals to open an arcade in Junction Road, opposite Archway Tube station.
The campaign is supported by Junction ward Lib Dem councillor Stefan Kasprzyk and Labour councillor Janet Burgess.
The objection centres on the damage a second slot-machine parlour would have on the local economy and the impact it could have on schoolchildren.
Cllr Burgess said: “What we want in Archway are some decent shops to help with the regeneration of the area.
“The last thing we need is a retail shop being closed and a gambling hall opened in an area that’s already flooded with bookies.”
