Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 February 2008

Place for police shop

• I UNDERSTAND that plans are afoot to close Holloway police station.
Any reduction in the presence of police in the Tollington area is, in my view, madness. Crime is local people’s number one concern. We need more of a police presence, not less
In other boroughs there are police shops, where police officers spend most of their time out on the beat but provide a presence at a police shopfront to assist people with crime inquiries.
Police shops might well work in Archway, Finsbury Park and Highbury.
However, they must be up and running before Holloway police station is closed.
Cllr Catherine West
Labour, Tollington ward
