Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 February 2008

Make pub welcoming

• IT would be disappointing if Islington Council was to grant planning permission for the Auld Triangle to be turned into flats, simply because the current pub can’t attract sufficient trade.
The pub’s landlord complains about being “almost empty” on week nights (Use it or lose it, landlord tells pub protesters, January 18). Maybe he should look at other bustling pubs in nearby residential areas, such as the hugely successful Drapers Arms or the Compton Arms.
He could take a leaf out of their book and make the pub more attractive and welcoming to residents. I don’t think bullying suggestions like “use it or lose it” are going to win Mr Joyce many new customers.
