Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 25 January 2008

Who will fill baths gap?

• ST Luke’s Framework plan B is being implemented piecemeal. The public have been consulted on plans for Finsbury Leisure Centre and Ironmonger Row Baths, to be paid for by Islington Council, EC1 New Deal and friendly property developers.

There is a gap in the consultation which needs to be filled. Namely, what alternative facilities and compensations should be made available while redevelopment is taking place. The City types who use the place can simply pay to go elsewhere. What about the people of Finsbury to whom the leisure centre and the baths actually belong?
If your readers have any ideas about alternative facilities or about plan B, they will be welcome at the meeting of Finsbury Forum on Thursday, January 31, at 7pm at Vibast Centre, Redbrick estate (corner of Old Street and Ironmonger Row).
