Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 18 January 2008

It’s all gone to pot

• I AM amazed that the Red Rose Comedy Club in Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, is due to close in a matter of weeks.
Do people really want an institution which has been headlining comic talent for 20 years to be shut down in favour of yet another snooker hall? There is already a snooker club less than five minutes away on the opposite side of the road.
Well-known comedians such as Russell Brand, Eddie Izzard and Jimmy Carr have cut their teeth at this well-loved venue, which gives ordinary people a chance to experience top-class acts at affordable prices. I hope the new landlord of the pub thinks again, in the interests of people who enjoy supporting comic talent in their community.
ANNETTE THOMAS
Bardolph Road, N7
