Knighted for services to social science

PROFESSOR Roger Jowell, co-founder and director of the European Social Survey at City University in Northampton Square, Finsbury, is knighted for services to social science.
Anthony Gordon, from Holloway, chief executive of the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service, is to get a CBE.
Fellow Holloway resident, Professor David Metcalf, commissioner of the Low Pay Commission, also gets a CBE.
Others receiving the OBE are the chairman of the Health and Social Care Advisory Service and regional director of the Royal College of Nursing, Paul Beard, from Islington, for ser­vices to healthcare.
Holloway resident Helen Carpenter will receive an OBE for services to local ­government.
