Projects to attract more women into football score with FA

ARSENAL ladies have just won the freedom of the borough and now scores of aspiring footballers are hot on their heels following a successful drive to get more women into the game.
Islington Football Development Partnership has won recognition for its projects in the community.
The group, comprising Aquaterra Leisure, Islington Council and Arsenal in The Community, has received the high accolade of being named the London Football Association’s Partner of The Year.
Michael MacNeill, Islington Football Development Manager, said: “I’m really chuffed at getting the award. Considering the large amount of people involved in football across London this really is a massive honour for us and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved over the past five years.”
Created in 2001, the group was praised for the wide range of programmes it has run to get people from all backgrounds involved in the game.
