Green energy to fuel bright sparks

CHILDREN at an Islington school are facing a bright future after solar panels were installed on top of their classroom.
Grafton Primary School, in Holloway, now generates enough green electricity to run a new block at the building.
Islington Council’s Climate Change Fund has paid for half of the £20,000 project.
Liberal Democrat councillor Lucy Watt, executive member for environment, said: “This is really significant because it’s the first project to be completed through our pioneering Climate Change Fund.
“We’re even more delighted that it’s being launched at a school, because local children tell us the environment is so important to them.”
The school’s headteacher, Nitsa Sergides, said: “We teach our children to develop a strong awareness of their planet and their environment.
“The solar panels will provide an excellent example of how the whole family at Grafton School can contribute to a greener planet that is a better place for everyone to live in.”
