Missing meeting
• SOME time ago a reference was made in the letters pages to the non-existent tenants’ association for Popham Street estate.
Two weeks after the letter appeared, a meeting was held (the first for at least a couple of years) when Barbara Coventry was voted in as chairwoman, and a vice-chairwoman and treasurer appointed.
We were told that, as we attended the meeting, we would form the committee, and at any time could phone Central Street housing office with any estate problems that needed looking into.
Everyone’s name and address were taken at the meeting, so they could be informed of the next meeting, and also be sent details of points raised at the meeting.
It was decided that the next meeting should be on the last Monday of November. We are now past the last Monday in November, as well as the first and second Monday in December, and no meeting, and no info sent about the previous meeting.
I phoned Central Street housing office on Friday to enquire about this, and was told that no tenants’ association was registered for the Popham Street estate. I do not know the addresses of Barbara Coventry or the vice-chairwoman, so I cannot contact them. What exactly is going on here?
