Camden Passage lights brighten festive shopping as celebrity pair add sparkle

ADVENT calendars have been ceremoniously ripped open, Christmas jingles are ringing around the shops and Santa is oiling his sleigh. But if anyone still needed an excuse to get in the festive spirit then Saturday’s Christmas lights switch-on in Camden Passage was it.
Sadie Frost and Jemima French – the latest fashionistas to set up shop in the uber-trendy thoroughfare – didn’t appear too bothered by the chill as they glammed up to do the honours and push the big button.
After a nervous countdown, fears of technical glitches and mass fusing were put to bed as the twinkling lights shone brightly, casting a magical glow over the huddled crowds.
Parents and children escaped the madness of Upper Street, stepping into a winter wonderland of decorative balloons, a white (albeit fake) carpet of snow and mulled wine to befit the exclusive location.
The day put a smile on the faces of bar-humbug mutterers and wide-eyed children alike – with everyone leaving with plans to pen their Christmas lists and decorate the tree.
