At last, a work of art you can get your teeth into

AN artist and a baker have teamed up to make cakes that are not just a treat but a celebration of a turning point in your life.
Monica Shanta Brown and Nici Wilson take a client’s personal story and turn it into an edible work of art.
Monica met Nici when she held a cake-day at her home. Monica creates the intricate icing designs, based on her artistic interpretation of the customer’s story, and Nici does the same for the cake.
Nici said: “Cake is very symbolic. It is involved in many traditions of celebration, and has lots of associations with rebirth and sharing.”
With prices starting at £600, the cakes are certainly for special occasions but, as the creators see it, you buy the entire artistic process, as well as a beautiful edible treat.
Nici added: “The whole process of talking and thinking about it takes two or three weeks, but then when we come to make the cakes it all has to be done very quickly.
