Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 16 November 2007

Our day to remember

• MAY I thank all those people who came to the Remembrance Day parade and inter-faith service on Sunday. The numbers attending were greater than ever and it was particularly encouraging to see so many members of the various youth organisations there.
Thank you also to those who attended the service at Spa Green and the act of commemoration at the former Royal Northern Hospital at Manor Gardens. Again, the numbers of those attending this event increased.
A great deal of organisation goes into planning these events and I should particularly like to thank the Inter-faith Forum, pageant master Peter McCafferty and everyone involved in the Manor Gardens event.
A number of people on Islington Green were proudly wearing their veterans’ badge. Anyone who was in the armed forces until 1994 can apply for a badge. To find out more, call Freephone 0800 169 2277 or go to www.veterans-UK.info.
Cllr Barbara Smith
Mayor of Islington
