Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 16 November 2007

Invest in our future

• CAN I congratulate Labour councillor Richard Watts for insisting that the Liberal Democrat-led council must put more money into youth services.
We need politicians to speak up on behalf of our youngsters. Young people clearly need more youth centres and youth workers, and the council should consult them about this.
The good news is that Mayor of London Ken Livingstone will soon be consulting people in the capital about how a £60 million London Youth Offer fund can be used to help children and teenagers, especially in deprived areas like Islington, learn new skills through training, sports and cultural activities.
The Labour government has also recently announced more funding for youth services. Our young people deserve better services, and they are our future.
