Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 9 November 2007

Centre will stay open

• EARLIER this year I said I would let readers know when there was news about the future of the Islington Computer Skills Centre in Finsbury.
I am pleased to announce that I found out this morning that the City Fringe Partnership has agreed to fund the centre until March next year.
As many readers will be aware, external funding for the centre ran out in March this year. The council has funded the classes at the centre for a further six months and has kept it open as a drop-in centre throughout October while the centre looked for more funding.
With the new funding in place, classes will start again this month, and we hope we will be able to secure more funding for the next financial year. A bid is already in, seeking two years of funding from April and I will let you know the result.
Cllr RUTH POLLING
Lib Dem executive member for leisure and equalities
