Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 7 September 2007

Try being a warden

• ISLINGTON Council needs to bring back parking in-house so that all attendants are paid the same (Drivers attack parking on Facebook, August 31).
The council needs a change in strategic thinking. Parking fines are not a reliable source of income, so there should be no targets for attendants.
It is disgusting that employees of the local authority and NCP have to put up with racist and physical abuse from the irate middle classes in their four-wheel drives.
The student who set up the Facebook group should try being on the other side of things and experience life as an employee of this council and its various private sector contractors.
MIKE CALVERT
Assistant secretary,
Unison
