Campaign promises in run up to housing elections

THE battle for a place on Homes for Islington’s (HFI) board of directors is hotting up ahead of next week’s elections.
Twelve candidates are vying for four resident board director seats on the social housing ALMO that manages Islington Council’s rented and leasehold homes in the south of the borough.
Winners will be decided by a postal ballot open from September
3-14.
The contenders include former carpenter Eugen Hockenjos, whose personal statement claims Islington housing needs “fresh blood, fresh ideas and fresh people” to improve standards, and Turhan Ozen, who promises “to work for honesty and transparency to get our value for money”.
Ex-councillor Joseph Trotter is also running, promising voters “better consultation and involvement”.
One ballot paper will be sent to each household next week.
An HFI spokesman said: “These board members elected by HFI residents play a vital role in ensuring tenants and leaseholders have a voice in the leadership and direction of the organisation.”
