Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 31 August 2007

In Orton’s footsteps

• MANY readers may be interested to know it is 40 years this month since writer Joe Orton died in Islington.
He was murdered by his partner – Kenneth Halliwell – who, gripped with remorse, killed himself.
Joe Orton is today recognised as a leading playwright of the 1960s despite a relatively small output. I keep his memory alive each Saturday when I lead a Joe Orton Life and Death Walk in Islington.
The next walk is tomorrow (Saturday) at 10.30am, meet at the Angel. Cost £6. For more details, call 07796673.
PETER POWELL
Canonbury Square, N1
