Bar boss struck with champagne bottle

A BOTTLE of Champagne was used to cosh a bar manager over the head during a brawl at a Finsbury bar.
Joe Ngan, 57, was hit during a fight, which may have been used as a distraction to steal a cash till at Yeungs City Bar in City Road.
Mr Ngan was one of two staff members assaulted on August 5 at around 2.30am as they attempted to stop three men making off with the till. About 200 people were in the bar on the busy Thursday night yet only a few witnesses have so far come forward.
Mr Ngan, who is now back at work, was left hospitalised by the attack and was given six stitches for a head wound
at the Royal London
Hospital in Whitechapel.
He said that as soon as the brawl started around the DJ booth, staff switched on the lights and security ran to the scene. Mr Ngan added: “The bar staff tried to stop them and two of us came running over, but the men hit one of my colleagues over the head with a champagne bottle.”
The three men, all in their early 20s, ran out of the bar with the till, which contained hundreds of pounds.
Mr Ngan chased the men outside and managed to grab one of them men but was kicked to the ground and hit over the head with a bottle.
Witnesses are asked to call PC Adam Stoker on 020 7421 0285 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
