Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 3 August 2007

Civil war damage?

ISLINGTON restaurant owner Mohammed Zomlot, who claimed that over half the houses in his village in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed by the Israeli army, seems to be slightly out of touch with the news (Palestine dinner for children, July 27).
Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in August, 2005, so there has been plenty of time to rebuild any houses that were destroyed (if in fact they were destroyed).
The Israeli army only destroyed houses inhabited by terrorists. Perhaps the houses were not destroyed by the Israeli army at all but in the recent civil war between Hamas and Fatah.
