Published: 20 July 2007

Libraries’ landmark

TWO Islington libraries are celebrating their centenaries with a programme of events.
West Library, in Bridgeman Road, Barnsbury, opened in July 1907 and Central Library, in Fieldway Crescent, Highbury, followed in October of the same year with a noisy welcome from the band of the Coldstream Guards.
Celebrations planned include a treasure trail, a presentation on Edwardian Islington and a production of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book.
