Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 20 July 2007

Maverick scientist

• THE Tribune must have some of the best book reviews of any free newspaper anywhere.
It is therefore a pity that the book, The Upside of Down by Thomas Homere-Dixon, dealing with the serious subject of climate change, was reviewed by a man with such maverick views on the subject as Piers Corbyn (Signal of doom… or oil-funded hysteria, July 6).
Mr Corbyn, a one-time astrophysicist, is a well-known “global warming denier”. He specialises in selectively quoting statistics that misrepresent the facts about modern climate change to “prove”  his unconventional ideas, and this is damaging to the public perception of the issue.
