Holloway festival gets into the spirit of carnival

RIO carnival met Glyndebourne this weekend as the Holloway Arts Festival took to the streets of N7.
More than 2,000 people packed the roads, parks and community centres for the arts, drama, music and comedy-packed event.
It took a year to plan with £35,000 raised from organisations including the National Lottery and Islington Council.
A host of venues in north Islington were used, including a murder mystery play at the Whittington Community Centre.
Youngster’s enjoyed a classical music workshop at St John the Evangelist Church.
The highlight of the day was a huge Rio-style carnival that wound its way through the streets of Holloway and Whittington Park. Film screenings were also held on Sunday at the festival which culminated in a sell-out show by poet John Hegley at North Library on Tuesday night.
Organisers say the festival was such a roaring success they are already planning a bigger and better party for next year, with extra venues and more comedy.
