Life: Sean Samuels
Killer shot teenager after DJ ‘war’

THE killer of a teenager shot at Egg nightclub in King’s Cross has been jailed for life.
Sean Samuels, 27, was convicted of murder at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday with a recommendation he serves a minimum 27-year jail term.
The jury had been told there was “no love lost” between him and the victim, unemployed Sharif Zaiden, 18, from Ladbroke Grove.
Samuels had denied he was present at the time of the killing just before 3am on August 12 last year.
The court was told Samuels arrived at a private function away from the main club area seconds after Mr Zaiden was hit by three bullets.
Prosecutor Edward Brown said the death resulted from a “rap war” between rival DJs.
Samuels, known by the street name Terrordon, and Mr Zaiden had been involved in a feud after meeting at a pirate radio station in west London.
He told the jury: “Their rivalry led to violent threats and insults and culminated in a violent attack on the radio station in May 2005 when Samuels was stabbed in the leg by Zaiden.”
The court heard Samuels carried out the shooting as a “brutal act of revenge” when the pair met at Egg, in York Way, for a birthday party.
Detective Inspector Tim Wilkinson said: “Sharif Zaiden and Sean Samuels fell out over the style of dj-ing at a pirate station in west London in May 2005.
“Samuels saw Sharif in [the] nightclub and they became involved in an argument. Samuels armed himself, returned an hour later and shot Sharif Zaiden.”
Outside court Melanie Gotting, Mr Zaiden’s mother, said: “My family is totally devastated by the loss of our beautiful son. I am pleased with the result – justice has been done.”
