Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 6 July 2007

Signs of our times

• I KNOW our council is concerned about our environment, so could they please look at reducing the amount of signage on our streets.
Within yards of my house, there are six road signs. I used to watch the sun set from outside my front door but now I can only see a CPZ sign. Do we really need four such signs for a mini-CPZ (one of which currently indicates the wrong hours)?
Similarly, in Upper Street, perspectives of fine buildings such as St Mary’s Church are obliterated by a forest of ugly signs. It must be very costly in carbon emissions to erect each of these signs, so could we have a few less?
