Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 29 June 2007

Homes gap

• THE council needs to build more homes, but, if right-to-buy is still in operation, all that will happen is that many of them will eventually be sold by ex-tenants to private landlords, who will then charge double or even treble rents.
Councils should have only one duty where council housing is concerned. That is, to provide affordable accommodation for people whose income is too low for them to rent on the open market.
