Masked knifeman preyed on lone women

A VIOLENT drug addict who wore a highwayman’s mask to rob women has been convicted of a series of attacks close to his Finsbury home.
Jamie Thomas Wilson, 25, was caught by police following six robberies and a violent assault – all within walking distance of his flat in Emberton Court, off Goswell Road. They took place in narrow lanes, including Lorenzo Street, Sekforde Street and Margery Street.
Unemployed Wilson was finally caught when police spotted him on the St Luke’s estate one evening in December last year and found him concealing a 10-inch kitchen knife.
He was walking along the street with a black mask covering his face and was wearing the same clothes in which he committed the attacks.
Wilson had ripped out a piece of black suitcase lining to cover his face in the style of a highwayman, said arresting officer Sergeant Liam Redrup.
A search of Wilson’s flat uncovered stolen credit cards as well as a purse and mobile phone taken in the robberies.
He was charged with six robberies and one count of grievous bodily harm and remanded in custody until his trial at Wood Green Crown Court, where Wilson pleaded not guilty.
Segt Redrup said: “Jamie Wilson was a dangerous and increasingly prolific offender who deliberately targeted lone women in order to rob them to feed his drug habit. He stabbed one of his victims even though she had handed over her property.”
Wilson will be sentenced on July 9.
