Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 15 June 2007

Centre closure nears

FOLLOWING my letter (Invaluable computer centre threatened with closure, June 1), Councillor Jyoti Vaja has since written to me but council leader Councillor James Kempton and councillors from Bunhill and Clerkenwell wards have still not had the courtesy to reply to my letters. I have now lodged a complaint with Lib Dem headquarters.
Could I ask students who have studied at Islington Computer Skills Centre, based at Finsbury Library, over the past eight years to contact the Borough Librarian and their local councillors (the name of the Borough Librarian and the names of relevant councillors with their e-mail addresses are available from libraries or from www.
islington.gov.uk).
Let them know why you think Islington should find the money to keep the centre open. Unless funding is found, the centre is scheduled to close in September.
Time is running out. Please make sure your voice is heard by councillors and by the Borough Librarian, the senior local government officer responsible for the centre.
