Man found injured after street shooting

Neighbours hear two shots in suspected drugs feud

A SUSPECTED drug feud ended in a shooting in the back streets of Holloway on Sunday evening.
Police say two shots were fired around the junction of Hornsey Road and Marlborough Road.
Armed officers were dispatched just before 6.30pm after a 999 call from a resident.
The gunman, in his 20s, made his escape by running up Marlborough Road, but police were unable to catch him.
Officers arrived to find a “very shaken” victim, also in his 20s, with wounds to his abdomen, caused either by the bullet or shrapnel from the shots bouncing off a wall.
The scene was then taped off as specialist search teams using drugs and guns-trained sniffer dogs scoured the area for the weapon and bullet casings.
Police soon found the gun, which had been thrown on to the forecourt of a nearby garage, closed on the Sunday evening.
Officers had to break open the gates to gain entry and took the pistol away for ballistics checks.
The victim was treated at the scene for a “slight injury” to his stomach but did not require hospital treatment.
One witness, 32, who asked not to be named, said: “We definitely heard two shots and then there was a guy running away. The police tried to catch him but couldn’t and then they closed off all the roads.
“Having these kinds of things happening around here is bad for business.”
No arrests have been made and detectives from Operation Trafalgar, the Met’s shootings team are leading the inquiry.
A police spokesman said: “We are keeping an open mind about the motive at this stage.”
Anyone with information is asked to call officers from Operation Trafalgar on 020 8217 7355 or remain anonymous with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
