Wonderful mayor
• THERE could not be a better choice for Islington’s Mayor than Councillor Barbara Smith.
She has been a wonderful councillor for Canonbury for the past nine years, whether helping pensioners with housing repairs or defending the conservation area.
Tribune readers may not know that she and her husband Paul give up their Christmas Day each year, washing up at Islington pensioners’ Christmas party.
Many people say they look down on politicians, but Cllr Smith is someone we can all look up to and admire.
