Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 4 May 2007

Bosom buddy should say sorry

I WAS pleased to see Paul Newman apologising, and his appeal to Boris Johnson for forgiveness (‘Roadkill-gate’ just laughable, April 27).
Boris Johnson, famously, was made to go to Liverpool to apologise for his public faux pas. Perhaps it would be fitting for Mr Newman also to apologise publicly to the residents of Mildmay.
As chairwoman of east area committee I would like to invite Paul to come along on May 22 to publicly apologise for his ill-considered words about Mildmay residents. I’m sure it won’t be necessary to take us “to his bosom”.

GIVEN that Paul Newman, of Islington North Conservatives, is “happy to clutch each and every Mildmay voter to my bosom in admiration and respect”, I am relieved I do not live in Mildmay.
The very thought of being literally in his clutches would make me most apprehensive about answering my door during election canvassing time.
