Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 20 April 2007

Runner’s tragic death

• WE were so sorry to hear of the sudden death of Dejere Tulu (Tragic death of the brave Olympic hope, April 13).

It is possible he died from an underlying cardiac condition. Our son Ashley was also a very fit and healthy young man. He went to bed at the age of 16 and didn’t wake up in the morning.
There are several cardiac conditions that come under the umbrella of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). Some of these conditions cannot be detected at post mortem as they are due to an abnormality of the heartbeat.
If you would like further information about SADS go to sadsuk@btconnect.com.
