Wicked send-off for the mayor who puts charity centre stage

STARS of the West End musical Wicked entertained a glittering audience at the Town Hall on Sunday.
The event was organised to raise money for Finsbury Park-based Chance UK, Mayor of Islington Councillor Jyoti Vaja’s charity this year.
Sunday’s event was attended by mayors from other London boroughs. The charity aims to transform the lives of vulnerable children and focuses on mentoring schemes for children aged five to 11
With Cllr Vaja stepping down as mayor next month, the event was a chance for her to say thank-you to the charity and to meet some of the children who benefit from its work.
The cast of Wicked have been working with Chance UK, giving children the chance to see the show and go backstage. Anyone interested in becoming a Chance UK volunteer or mentor should go to www.chanceuk.com
