Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 6 April 2007

Planners, get out more

• ISLINGTON Council promises to blitz persons who carry out work without permission (‘Break planning rules at your peril’ alert, February 9). As a former trader in the Georgian Village, I hope Councillor James Kempton can hear my hollow laughter. Those of us who deal with the planning department are not even sure its officers have ever visited Camden Passage.

Remember, this is the department that wrote twice to 42 shops in the Georgian Village which had been evicted some six months before.
No wonder officers stated there had been a poor response to their consultation exercise. I look forward to one of the planning officers popping in for a chat – if he or she knows how to find me.
GRAHAM THURSTON
