Louisa Petais
Singer’s tribute to heart attack victim

A CLASSICAL musician whose friend died of a heart attack at the age of 27 is holding a memorial charity concert at a Highbury church tomorrow (Saturday).
Louisa Petais, from Holloway, is organising the Christ Church concert, featuring works by Mozart, Bizet, Donizetti, and Puccini, with the help of three musician friends.
Her friend, Dimitri Dimitsas, collapsed and died outside his flat in Stroud Green two years ago. He suffered a massive heart attack and, it was later discovered, had ignored chest pains which had been plaguing him beforehand.
Louisa, a talented mezzo-soprano in her final year at Trinity College of Music in Greenwich, hopes to raise money for the British Heart Foundation from the concert. Friends Esther Parreu-Gonzalez (soprano), Tristan Stocks (baritone) and Tobias Napleton (piano) will also perform.
She said: “It will be a gorgeous mix of duets, arias and ensembles from operas such as The Magic Flute, Cosi Fan Tutte, Carmen and La Boheme.
“I have entitled the concert Heart to Heart, reflecting both the aim of the event and the romantic theme of the programme.”
She added that she felt it fitting that she should pay homage to Dimitri’s memory with a concert because music was such an integral part of his life. Home-made refreshments with a Greek theme will be served.
£8 (£5 concessions) at the door.
