Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 9 February 2007

Polls reveal CCTV opposition

• RESIDENTS on the Bemerton estate have been campaigning for months against the imposition of a massive new CCTV system. (Tenants focus their anger on bills for estate CCTV, November 24).
Two surveys last month show a decisive majority oppose the scheme, which would saddle some residents with bills of up to £1,500. A survey carried out by Homes for Islington (HfI) showed 62.5 per cent of Bemerton residents would not be prepared to pay for the proposed CCTV, while 58 per cent rejected the scheme in another ballot organised by Bemerton Villages Management Organisation.
We hope HfI will respect the wishes of the majority and withdraw the CCTV scheme.
