AFC Shooters (above) fired up their season on Sunday with a commanding victory over EY International in the opening round of the London Junior Cup.

The Camden Sunday League side returned from their away-day challenge in Chiswick full of confidence after netting their first win of the new campaign with a 4-1 victory over their west London opponents.

Having gone a goal down the Shooters needed less than a minute to level the scores courtesy of a neat finish from Andy Mundy-Castle.

Joe Wihl completed the comeback when he scored from close range, before Mundy-Castle increased the lead with his second of the game.

Captain Stephen Parker wrapped up the win from the penalty spot after Mark Kingston was brought down in the box.

• In Division One there was an unusual look to the score sheet as champions Phoenix made it three wins on the spin with a 2-0 victory over title rivals Athletico Annies.

Highlighting the strength within their squad, left-back Charlie Kanaris opened the scoring before right-back Kevin Duffy wrapped up the win.

Duffy’s goal was certainly one to remember as he played a one-two with Anthony Clarke before curling the ball into the top corner.

Afterwards manager Dave Harber said: “We have strength in every department. People think if they stop Clarke then they stop us from scoring. But we proved that’s far from the case.

“When’s the last time you saw a left-back and a right-back both scoring in the same game to seal a win? I’ve been in a football a long time and I haven’t seen it before.”
