PLANS to breathe new life into a building once home to one of Camden Town’s hippest bars will go before licensing chiefs tonight (Thursday).

BrewDog Bars have applied for a licence to open a new venue in Bayham Street. It will be in the former Laurel Tree pub which was a music fans’ favourite during the 1990s Britpop scene.

Managers must convince councillors the new venture will not disturb residents, who have flagged up their worries in a letter to licensers.

The amenity group Camden Town Speaks said: “Adding another alcohol outlet in the middle of this area would inevitably lead to more disturbance and trouble for residents. One resident has said: ‘It will be like a neighbour  having a party in their front room every week’.”

BrewDog have pledged to remind customers to leave quietly and to bar any noisy repeat offenders.
