Consultant nurses and midwives from University College Hospital have visited Downing Street to give top policy-makers some advice on the National Health Service.

THE experienced staff had an audience with Number 10’s senior advisor of health and adult care, Paul Bate.

Mr Bate was formerly part of the 2020 Delivery management consultancy group – aiming to bring “lasting change within public sector organisations”.

Elizabeth Garrett Anderson nurse Yana Richens, who was awarded an OBE for her services to nursing, said: “We wanted to highlight the clinical role of consultant nurses and midwives at UCLH and how well placed we senior nurse/midwifery clinicians are in the UK to shape and influence issues surrounding healthcare policy.”
