Learco Chindamo cleared of robbery

THE man who murdered headmaster Philip Lawrence has been cleared of robbing a man at a cash point in Chalk Farm.

Learco Chindamo, 31, was accused of using his notoriety to “intimidate and terrify” 20-year-old David Sexton outside Sainsbury’s at 3.30am on November 24 last year. Chindamo had been released on licence from prison four months earlier after serving nearly 14 years behind bars for the 1995 knife murder of Mr Lawrence.

Chindamo, who  denied the charges, was acquitted of robbery by a Blackfriars Crown Court jury following a seven-day hearing. He will remain in custody pend­ing a review of the case.
