UCL Academy principal’s 100k-plus

THE first person to take charge of Camden’s first academy school will get the chance to earn more than £100,000 a year.
And the successful candidate for the top job at the UCL Academy in Swiss Cottage will not be known as a headteacher – they will be referred to by the American-style title of “principal”.
Material sent to candidates advertises the potential to negotiate a “six-figure salary”.
The documents give further clues to how the school, which will be able to operate outside of the council’s control, will be set up.
They reveal plans for “five households” within the school, blocks which specialise in different subjects. Targets for the new head include “securing the commitment of the wider community”.
Interviews are due to take place next month.
