Shop wins booze battle

A NEWSAGENT has won the right to sell alcohol despite objections from a neighbouring off-licence.
Hieu Van Vo, who spoke at Tuesday’s Islington town hall licensing committee meeting through an interpreter, can now sell alcohol from 10am until 10pm from his shop in Hillmarton Terrace, Holloway.
His representative told the panel Mr Van Vo was facing competition from a new off-licence.
But Ozguler Onpolat, representing his father Kazim, who lives in Camden Road and owns an off-licence a couple of doors away, said there were already too many shops selling alcohol in the area, attracting school pupils.
