New Year Honours – Tenant Theresa Coyle became homes chief

Theresa Coyle: ‘delighted’

A COUNCIL tenant has been awarded the MBE for her voluntary work in housing.
Theresa Coyle, chairwoman of Homes for Islington (HfI), received the New Year honour for securing funds for regeneration and outstanding achievement and service to the local area.
An HfI board member since its inception in 2004, Ms Coyle manages a multi-use community centre on the Andover estate in Islington. For more than ten years she was involved in tenant consultation and participation, chairing the tenants’ association on her estate.
Ms Coyle, a mother of four boys who lives in Finsbury Park, said of her MBE: “It’s fantastic and I’m delighted. I feel the award isn’t just for me but also the team of people who’ve worked with me and now I’m looking forward to meeting the Queen to accept the award.”
