Fit for King’s – Painting on way to pub

Melissa Scott-Miller's painting of the King’s Head

A PAINTING of the outside of the King’s Head theatre by award-winning Barnsbury artist Melissa Scott-Miller is set to be presented to the pub in Upper Street.

The painting is being given to the venue by a couple who own the work, which measures 30x28inches.

Melissa, a member of the Royal Society of Painters, who specialises in capturing local scenes in Islington, recently won the prestigious Lynn Painter-Stainers prize, co-sponsored by the Spectator magazine, for a painting of Thornhill Primary School.

Speaking about the King’s Head piece, she said: “It is a great pub and a wonderful theatre and I’ve always wanted to paint the exterior. It is one of the borough’s gems”
