Fire put out on the Rowley Way Estate

FIRE fighters battled a blaze on the Rowley Way estate in West Hampstead last night (Sunday). A Fire Brigade spokesman said: “Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a fire in a five storey block of flats on Rowley Way in St Johns Wood, yesterday evening. A flat on the first floor was badly damaged by fire. A man and a woman from a flat above the affected premises were led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and were treated by London Ambulance Service crews. Around 20 people were evacuated from the block as a precaution. The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire officers and the police.”
