Trees decorated in ‘primary’ colours – Schoolchildren bring festive cheer to Waterlow Park

Year 4 pupils from Christ Church

MAGICAL mobiles, woven baskets and rainbow-coloured lanterns were among the festive decorations suspended from trees in Waterlow Park by schoolchildren last week.
Pupils from St Michael’s, Torriano, St Aloysius, Fitzjohns, St Joseph’s and Christ Church primary schools made a special visit on Friday to see their festive adornments hanging from the park’s oaks, sycamores and evergreens.
The event followed a term of preparation during which each of the nine classes visited the park and chose their favourite tree to decorate. They gathered at Lauderdale House on Friday morning to present their work.
Jill Wignall, arts educational director, visited the schools over the past few weeks and helped the children to base decorations on different themes.
It was the eleventh annual tree-dressing event at Waterlow Park.
